TEN YEARS AND COUNTING
HOW WE MET
When people ask how Brad and I met, I jokingly say “We met on the playground at recess in Kindergarten” because truthfully I don’t REALLY know how he and I met. Brad and I have always had the same group of friends throughout our time at Batesburg-Leesville Middle and High school but we really didn’t show an interest in one another until our Junior year of high school. Brad was always the quiet and reserved kid in class and I was, what Brad affectionately called, “the loud and obnoxious know it all”. We were in a lot of the same classes and I grew to have a crush on him. In January of 2010 I decided to casually text Brad about something silly like Clemson basketball. We began to casually text back and forth and after a few months, Brad invited me to go fishing at his grandparents' pond. Although this wasn’t officially our first date, I felt that Brad really must have liked me if he’d ask me to join him in doing something he loved so much.
OUR FIRST DATE
After our fishing outing in March, Brad and I continued to text back and forth for a few more weeks. I cheered him on at his baseball games and we continued to casually hang out throughout the spring. It wasn’t until the beginning of May that we had our first official date. Brad and I went to the Big Mo in Monetta, SC and saw A Nightmare on Elm Street. A few weeks later on May 31st 2010, Brad and I officially became “boyfriend and girlfriend”.
THE PROPOSAL
November 24th, 2018 was like any other fall Saturday in God’s Country. Brad and I woke up early to get to our favorite spot in the STI parking lot where we would tailgate before the biggest game of the year (Clemson vs. USC) with a large group of friends. Little did I know, Brad had a much more exciting plan for the day! During football season I always bug Brad to take pictures with me. Brad had his friend Matt and his now fiancé Kelly come around to where I was standing with a group of friends to ‘scope out’ a good place to take a picture. They knew that this would trigger me to say “Hey Brad! Let’s go ahead and take our picture” and sure enough, it worked! In front of a huge group of our friends Brad asked me to be his wife, and in the shock of the moment, I forgot to actually say YES! Eventually Brad said “You gonna say yes?” With ‘CLEM in Cadence Count’ in the background and cheers surrounding us, I of course said YES! NINE YEARS AND COUNTING
Brad and I have shared so many wonderful memories over these past 10 years together. We have visited some exciting places (New York City, New Orleans, Miami, and College Station, TX to name a few) and experienced not 1 but 2 Clemson National Championships! We purchased our first home in 2019 and welcomed a sweet German Shepherd fur baby, Nova, to our family in November of 2019. We are so excited for what the future holds and can’t wait to celebrate with you on October 24th as we embark on our next exciting adventure as husband and wife!
